| When I found out
that Scooby needed a new van just months before my trip there, I
knew I did not want to got there empty handed. So Tim and I
thought that we would hold a themed fundraiser in hopes of raising
money for the van. Which they still need, so if you can, please
visit the Scooby website and
make a donation.
Our idea was to have a Spanish themed open house. We called
it the Galgo Open House. We sent out invitations to our friends
and family inviting them to join us for traditional tapas and Spanish
wine. In return, we ask that they made a donation to Scooby.
Our menu included various tapas dishes that were really easy to
make and various wines from Spain, including a big bowl of Sangria.
The Menu
• Spiced Meatballs with Romesco Sauce (recipe)
• Garlic Shrimp*
• Almonds with Sea Salt*
•
Goat Cheese stuffed Olives
•
Spiced Pork Kabobs*
•
Three authentic Spanish cheeses
Drinks
• A big punch bowl of Sangria*
•
Various red and white wines from
Spain
*Recipes from Book of Spanish Cooking by Hilarie Walden
We had a fantastic
turnout with approximately 25 people and the total donations was
$1720.00 and every dollar went to Scooby...including 27 coats and
many collars and leashes. We were overwhelmed
by the generosity.
This fundraiser was easy to plan and it was wonderful seeing all
of our family and friends supporting something we are so passionate
about. We
hope to make it an annual event. Thank you to all who donated.
